Joshua Dowson (1812-1856)
Joshua Dowson was born in Alston Moor Cul, Cumbria to Thomas Dawson (a cabinet maker) and Ann (nee White). Dowson was apprenticed to George Dymond, architect of Bristol in February 1832. He was working on his own account by the late 1830s and had relocated to Preston where he remained until his death in 1856.

Edwin Coburgh Sayer (c.1817-1881)
Edwin Coburgh Sayer was born in Bristol (St Paul, Portland Square) to William Sayer (a cornfactor) and Sarah. He was apprenticed to George Dymond, architect of Bristol in April 1834 but following Dymond's death in September 1835, it is unclear whether he was then articled to another Bristol architect. By his marriage in 1844 Sayer was living in London and is recorded the 1851 Census as an architectural artist and draughtsman in St Pancras, Middlesex, London and a retired architect in the 1881 Census.
